To complicate matters at the next rain, material left behind on a secondary roof plugged a downspout causing a cascade of water to flood the basement. In all, a wall sconce, a coax cable, and a portion of the secondary roof were damaged by Mike's work... and, as of this writing 10/22/2017, he has made no plans to close this chapter by completing the necessary work. We have come to learn the hard way that he is unreliable, unprofessional, and has little pride of workmanship. Regrettably, his word means nothing. His warranty is meaningless.
I am going to have to take him to small claims court to get my $950 back.
this lady wanted everything for free, people aren't allowed to take a vacation? it was the middle of winter,i was lucky to get away.i have been in business since 1999 and i have one person that didn't like me because i was in florida
This company is a joke and are a bunch of con artist!!! DO NOT HIRE!!! Mike was paid to fix my roof and sent his brother John to do it instead, he did not fix what he was paid to fix, gave a 2 year warranty. The next rain storm the roof was still leaking in the same spot and even worse, I had my ceiling start falling on the inside where the leak was occurring and even telling him that we still have not seen him. Every time he has been contacted he says he will send someone the next day, well after two months the next day still has not come. He just happened to be in flordia, and This seems to be a common theme through out the reviews of his company! Unless you want to pretty much hand out money for free I would stay clear from this guy!!!!
DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY!!! Mike Somma was hired to do a roof repair for me. When I called to tell him I was going to have him do the work, he said he was in Florida and would send his partner, who I since found out was a relative of his. His name was John Hotaling. John did the work and when I was getting an estimate for gutters from someone else they asked what was wrong with the roof. I went up myself and investigated and the hole that was supposed to be covered with interlocking board was not covered all the way and he used a piece of pine board. I lifted shingles and nails were half hammered in and bent over and he just left them like that. The drip edge he put on was not even over the flashing. I called Mike and he said he was still in Florida but promised me he would take care of my problem. That was 4 months ago. He has made several appointments with me and has never showed up. He only answers the phone if he doesn t recognize your number so you have to call from different numbers which is what I did. I was careful and had checked a reference he had given me. I have called that reference and he told me Mike is lying to me, that he never came back from Florida. He also doesn t live at the address on Rondack Rd. He left there a year ago. In fact there are three different addresses for him when you google his business. So all in all this guy is running a business from Florida and just sending his relatives to do shotty work. He also has 3 unanswered complaints from the BBB. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY!!!
In April 2017 we contracted w/Mike Somma of Mike's Roofing, formerly Best Value Roofing & Repairs. The project entailed a complete tear out, new TPO, new gutter/downspout, and cleaning/caulking of secondary roof term bars, gutters, and downspouts.
Not only did it take months to get him out to our home, but the project went by fits and starts from July 29 to August 14. We were told this was a 3-day project. Then, when we thought all was well and done (and paid for), at the first storm we discovered a massive roof leak and found all our gutters and downspouts leaked as well. By September 1st Mike put in a temporary patch on the roof but did nothing for the other leaks. By September 12th we had a permanent patch to the roof leak but, again, none of the other leaks were addressed. Also, the new downspout never got the extension or the wall brace that it needed.
Mike, the owner was very timely with an estimate, responding to questions and the completion of my flat roof. He did not try to up sell me on things I did not need and was affordable catering to my budget. Also Ron was very professional and knowledgeable. It only took five days from quote to finish to complete the work. I received updates on the status of the job, and every time I contacted him my call was answered. I will definitely recommend him in the future.
