Wow! The dedication to detail and quality of product is second to none! Kate made an absolutely beautiful wedding cake for my husband and I in 2011. This last November I special ordered a basic "re-do" of our wedding cake to celebrate our five year anniversary. (We do not live in the area, so we thought we would take advantage when we were home visiting family.) The cake was as moist and flavorful as I remembered, the frosting was not too sweet and not too buttery. Finally, the simple design was sleek and presentable to our family. I wish I lived closer so I could order more often!

I looked all around Albany for a gluten free cake and this is the only place I could find. Turned out to be a great find. My wife was super happy with the cake as was I. If I am ever in the area I will buy from them again!

Again, looked great and other reviewers seem to show that for the most part, the cakes are great tasting. I guess I didn't outline enough how I wanted my own personal cake to taste.
However, you may wish to go into detail about how you want the cake to be. I requested strawberry filling but it was just cool whip and strawberries ( I was expecting a strawberry jam of sorts with strawberries). Also, the chocolate part of the cake was sort of dry. The buttercream icing was overpowered with the taste of food coloring.
Kate's Kakes has been making me cakes and tasty baked goods for all my special events since 2006. Made my engagement party cupcakes, my 2007 wedding cake, most of the baby showers my wife attends, etc etc. She makes gluten free items that actually taste great. And I hate that stuff. The owner, Kate, is a one women shop. She used to work for a wedding event caterer and a wedding gown shop so she knows how to tie in a cake design to your plan. Oh, and prices are very reasonable.
