So I guess this is the place for underage kids to go see R rated films, because they don't need to worry about being denied entry or removed for being annoying. Want to use your cellphones to record the film? Head on down to Colonie Center, I can guarantee you they don't care. Otherwise if you are a law abiding citizen who just wants to see a movie, go someplace else. You'll avoid a headache.
My reasons for that statement are long and varied, but the tl;dr version is don't go. That is unless of course you wish to have a bad experience seeing a movie, in which case by all means head on over.
Had a birthday party in the party room. The staff was great and everything went smoothly. It's our 5th year and we'll be back.
Very clean. Wasn`t crazy about staff checking my purse. Was there with my 7 yr, old grandson and purchased items sooooooo don`t know what they were looking for. Do like the kids pack but as in all theaters the cost of drinks and popcorn are ridiculous.
Regal itself is a pretty OK cinema chain, falling in line with the majority of chain theater services, security, and quality. But that's not the case with Colonie's particular location, where the management is a joke, the security is lacking, and the quality is below sub par.
Very clean and the seats are very comfortable specially for a big guy..
Of course my experience might have been further sullied by the fact I had to deal with those kids I mentioned before, who had taken seats directly in front of me. They talked, ALL. THE. TIME. They used their cellphones to text, take pictures, and at one point answer a call to tell the person on the other side that they were at the movies. Ladies and gentlemen it took all my willpower to not choke them out, something I am proud of.
This is a movie theater that allows underage and unsupervised kids to see R rated films, they throw paid muscle at you near the entrance but do nothing when you have a complaint, and they don't have a single employee in their entire employ who wants to be there. The last two examples might be more common, but the first is illegal. You know, because whose at fault when those kids get hurt? The theater. What if they get lost? The theater is to blame. And who will be sued when the parents come a knocking? You guessed it, the theater.
I did of course file a complaint, but you know what security told me? "It happens." You know what management told me? "Sorry, would you like a refund?" NO! I want you to use your cheap muscles to remove the problems from the movie and kick them out, not try to pay me off so I keep quite. Because guess what, it had the opposite effect!
I saw Logan in the RPX theater. Without a doubt, one of the best movie experiences I've had. The sound and picture were excellent, not too loud. I was completely immersed in the movie.
Alright, so let's talk about this place.
Do not go to this theater.
It blew my mind as an employee watched a group of kids she had just said no to who wanted to see an R rated film, bribe a couple in line to act as their guardians, and then let them all enter without so much as bating an eye. Just... wow.
On my particular visit I decided to try out the RPX "experience", something that is touted for being comparable to the iMax theaters. And my conclusion? It's a load of bullhocky. RPX is squeaky leather seats, overly loud speakers, and a slightly larger screen. It's not worth paying the extra cash, not by a green mile.
