Thankful for the people and the ministries of First Lutheran Church, Albany! Special worship service for the beginning of a new academic year today, celebrated Sunday School teachers and students, installed and gave thanks for our 10 church council members, and welcomed 5 new members. We also had the opportunity to give to the Lutheran Disaster Response of the ELCA for the hurricane relief efforts, and enjoyed a delicious brunch together, thanks be to God!
Depressingly empty but a very funny minister. Having such a huge building doesn't help. The people were not very warm or welcoming despite having a coffee hour. Neighborhood seems sketchy. Not far from my college. Small but sufficient parking lot. Lots of restaurants nearby (but closed on Sundays). Someone said that the church was historic but there was no marker or plaque indicating why.
